Aegion 0.2.4 · Choose a path

The whole Aegion system

Aegion opens on one selection page. Six programs sit on it. This page is each of those programs from the tap that opens it until you come back.

How the app starts

  1. Open Aegion. On the laptop that is ./aegis. On the Tank it is the installed app.
  2. Choose a path. The window lands on that page. A status line sits under the title. Logs is the button at the top.
  3. Tap one card. That program runs. Paths, or Back, returns to the same page.
  4. The older window is separate. ./aegis --classic does not show these cards. Markets and the system keyboard are not cards here either.

Artemis

Aegis Engine. Ask from the library, facts, math, and answers taught on this device. The marks below are the order an answer is chosen. The first one that can stand is the one you see.

TaughtCorrectionsTutorialMathLive factsSportsMarketsPlacesLaptopLibraryWebLocal model
  1. Ask. Type a question, tap the mic, or say “Artemis, run query …” and the rest of the sentence is the question.
  2. Taught on this phone, then pack corrections.
  3. Teach me. That opens Tutorials when the question is asking for a lesson to be built.
  4. Math and units.
  5. Weather, exchange rates, and the time in a city. Live, and not stored.
  6. Sports. Teams and champions are offline. Scores, standings, and news are live. Finals can be logged. Live scores are not stored.
  7. Companies and stocks. Price, SEC filings, Wikidata, and headlines are live and are not stored.
  8. Confirmed facts, then U.S. places.
  9. The laptop engine, when the laptop link is up: its store, its web search, and its model.
  10. Definitions, then stored answers, re-checked before they are shown.
  11. Pages already saved from the web, then a new web search that saves what it used.
  12. Library search, then an optional local model only if nothing earlier answered.
  13. The answer shows its source. A correction beats the old answer next time.
  14. Walk questions asked here read the Signal Walk log, or become “start a walk”, “stop the walk”, and “summarize my last walk”.

Settings on this same screen hold the look, the voice, the web switch, Auto-train, the shared archive, the laptop link, local AI, and storage. The archive address is https://mindflux.online/aegis unless a different one was saved. Download pulls published facts. Contribute, after it is allowed, sends only a Wikidata item number, property numbers, and an article title. The server checks those itself. Questions, teachings, and keystrokes stay on the device.

Tutorials

Learn a subject. Name it. A sourced tutorial is built from the web and kept offline.

  1. Name the subject. Type it, or dictate it. “Python basics” or “the Ubuntu terminal”.
  2. Build tutorial. Aegion reads Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Stack Exchange answers, and documentation pages.
  3. It writes one lesson from what those pages say. Every part names its source.
  4. The lesson is saved on the device and can be read with the network off. Search the saved list by title, subject, or key concept.
  5. Go deeper builds the next level, one level at a time. If a pass finds nothing new, that button stays quiet for a while.
  6. Saved lessons answer later questions from Artemis, and they count as known for Auto-train.

Shield of Zeus

Trainer. Start from the first session, or paste new questions and answers. The card badge shows how many items are waiting, or that the starter is ready or already on.

  1. What this phone has learned is the first block.
  2. Apply starter session, while it is still offered, installs the first set of answers.
  3. Paste training. A line with => saves at once. A question alone waits in the queue.
  4. Review the queue. Use this keeps a draft. A draft that is not an answer cannot be used.
  5. Auto-train works through subjects while the app is allowed to. Use this turns a recent row into a teaching. Wrong removes it.
  6. Tutorial subjects can be queued here, one per line. A line that starts “how to” is a how-to. Recently built lessons open from this page.
  7. On the laptop, this page also holds Guardian’s scan of process names, listening ports, and file hashes. The scan only reads. Guardian is not its own card.

Handshake

Handoff. What this device knows, live tests, training, and settings.

  1. Handoff writes counts and teachings you can copy into another chat. No keys and no .env.
  2. Query runs seven questions through the engine. Weather and the web stay offline for that test.
  3. Training shows Shield of Zeus and recent teachings, and can open the trainer.
  4. Storage shows what is using space on the device.
  5. Settings holds voice and local AI. The same switches live on Artemis.

Signal Walk

Radio walk. On the phone this card records. On the laptop it opens the viewer.

On the Tank

The card opens the recorder built into the same app. Back returns to Choose a path. A walk logs Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cell towers with the GPS point and an estimated distance. The file is Download/signalwalk/walks.db on the phone. That file is not the shared fact archive. If the recorder does not open, the card says so and Logs has the reason.

On the laptop

The card opens the viewer. It does not record. It reads the newest walks file: a USB pull, a laptop-link sync, a copy under Downloads, or the copy the desktop keeps. You get a radar, a device list, search, a JSON export, and on a desktop the full map in the browser. A pull on 5 October brought 33 walks and 30,651 samples.

SignalDub Studio

Audio and video. This card is shown only on a desktop where ~/signal-dub is installed. The phone does not show it.

  1. The card names anything missing, such as its virtualenv or FFmpeg.
  2. Tap it. Aegion starts SignalDub’s own server if it is down. The badge says “starting…”.
  3. The server is SignalDub, not Aegion. It listens at http://127.0.0.1:8766/.
  4. The browser opens that address. If it does not, the badge shows the address. If the start fails, the card says why, and signaldub.log is in the Aegion data folder.

What stays on the device

Artemis keeps the pack, teachings, and saved pages on the device. Tutorials stay after they are built. Shield of Zeus keeps the queue on the device, and laptop-link sync can send teachings to the laptop. Handshake leaves the machine only if you copy the text yourself. Signal Walk’s file can move to the laptop over USB or the laptop link. It does not go into the Mindflux fact archive. SignalDub stays in ~/signal-dub and talks to the browser on this computer.

The shared archive the apps use for checked facts is mindflux.online/aegis. A longer reading copy of this same map is in the overview.
