Unihertz Tank 3 Pro · Android 15 · Aegion 0.2.3
The phone
Aegion on the Tank is the same Kivy app as the laptop window, with a SQLite knowledge pack instead of DuckDB and a background trainer the laptop window does not have.
What you see
The Choose screen opens the Aegis Engine, Shield of Zeus, Handshake, tutorials, Signal Walk, and SignalDub Studio where that studio exists. Inside the engine the tabs are Ask, Library, Markets, and Settings. On a desktop build there is also a Laptop tab. Library includes “How an answer is chosen”, sixteen steps.
Answers come from teachings, the bundled pack or a newer pack synced from the laptop, U.S. places, companies, the shared archive, Signal Walk logs, and the web when search is on. Weather, exchange rates, and city times are fetched live and never stored. Optional local AI is off by default.
Shield of Zeus
With Auto-train on, leaving the app starts a foreground service in its own process. It builds tutorials and curious facts until the session limit, the day’s cap, or Android’s data-sync allowance. Opening the app takes the files back under a lock so the two processes do not tear a save. User-queued tutorials jump the line. The service does not restart itself on a day that already hit the cap.
Tutorials
A tutorial is assembled from sourced sections and kept on the device. “Go deeper” reads the next unused sections, chapters, and questions. A how-to searches for its object, so “build a company” does not become Build-A-Bear. A concept keeps the subject of the tutorial it came from. Saved tutorials can answer later questions, and a number is used only when two sites in that tutorial agree.
Signal Walk
The recorder ships inside the Aegion APK as an Android library, not as a second app you have to keep. Tapping it used to crash: the library’s screen binding needed a class the APK had not packaged. Version 0.2.2 added that class. Artemis can start and stop a walk by voice, and the engine can answer questions about walks you have saved. Other desktops get a viewer. The full map and the radio scan stay on Android.
The system keyboard
This is a second install, package online.mindflux.aegiskeyboard, version 1.4 (version code 5). It is not inside the Aegion APK, and 1.4 is the copy installed on the Tank. Letters are the keyboard. One More key replaces the letter keys with emoji, silent GIF previews, recent photos, tools, and saved emails, at the same height so the app behind does not jump. Photos need the permission from the keyboard’s own settings. GIFs come from a small PHP catalog in keyboard-media/ at the repo root, not from the fact archive. The address is typed in keyboard settings. Nothing you type is uploaded.
Emails stay in the keyboard’s private preferences under the key saved_emails, at most 24, newest first. An empty email field receives the newest address once. Space or enter on a full address stores it. Suggestions appear in an email field, or after @. In More, tap an address to paste it and hold it to remove it. Settings has Add, Save, and Remove for the whole list. Password fields are ignored. The phone does not run the laptop’s Vosk dictation. Speech in, when the Aegion app listens, is still Android’s recognizer.
Build and install
mobile/build-apk.sh refuses to run while Cursor is open or memory is tight. The APK is copied to mobile/dist/. On the Tank, install over the old one so the data folder aegismobile stays. After 0.2.x, grant location, nearby devices, and file access for Signal Walk logs, set the battery to unrestricted, and keep the old Signal Walk app only until Aegion has recorded one walk.
Desktop preview without an APK: mobile/run-desktop.sh. iPhone steps are in BUILD-IOS and need a Mac.
